TEA Accountability Ratings

The TEA accountability ratings are based on a system that uses various indicators to provide detail on the performance of a school district and individual campuses. The performance index framework includes four areas: Student Achievement, Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps, and Postsecondary Readiness.  For 2017, Pleasanton ISD received a rating of Met Standard.  


Snapshot: School District Profiles

The Snapshot: School District Profile is available on the Texas Education Agency website. Snapshot summary tables provide district information in some common categories, and a peer search function permits grouping districts according to shared characteristics. While Snapshot does provide an overview of public education in Texas at the state level and for each public school district, it does not provide any campus-level information. 

 

 

Community and Student Engagement Ratings

House Bill 5’s community and student engagement requirements allow districts to showcase areas of excellence and success outside the limited scope of standardized test scores. In accordance with the Texas Education Code (TEC), §39.0545(a), each school district shall assign performance ratings to the district and each campus for community and student engagement indicators based on locally determined criteria. The nine factors evaluated include fine arts, wellness and physical education, community and parental involvement, 21st century workforce development program, second language acquisition program, digital learning environment, dropout prevention strategies, educational programs for GT students and compliance with statutory reporting and policy requirements.

 

Texas Academic Performance Report

The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and low income status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics. 

 

School Report Cards

The school report card (SRC) combines accountability ratings, data from the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), and financial information to give a broad view of campus performance. Available for each campus in Texas, the SRC is intended specifically to inform parents and guardians about a school's individual characteristics and its academic performance. 

 

Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas

The Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (Schools FIRST) is administered by the Texas Education Agency and calculated on information submitted to TEA via the district's Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) submission each year. The Schools FIRST accountability rating system assigns one of four financial accountability ratings to Texas school districts, with the highest being “Superior Achievement,” followed by “Above-Standard Achievement,” “Standard Achievement” and “Substandard Achievement.” For the 13th year in a row, the San Angelo Independent School District has earned a rating of “Superior Achievement” with a perfect score on the rating criteria.
