Pleasanton Independent School District

School Health Advisory Council

If you are interested in working with this year’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) for Pleasanton ISD, our first meeting will be September 29th, 4:20 at the Pleasanton Intermediate Library location.

SHAC is a group appointed by the school district to serve at the district level. Members of the SHAC come from different areas of the community and from within the school district. The majority of members must be parents who are not employed by the district.

A school health advisory committee (SHAC) assists the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in health education instruction. SHACs play an important role in strengthening the connection between health and learning. They can help parents and community stakeholders reinforce the health knowledge and skills children need to stay healthy for a lifetime.

Links are provided at this site including links to previous meetings, photographs of activities SHAC sponsored, agendas and minutes. The Pleasanton ISD SHAC information page can be found online at the PISD site titled “Healthy Lifestyles Homepage”
